> artist: /talking about the bullshit experiences from fandies she's had to deal with, how they're abusive fuckers and have ugly souls, etc > fandie: big talk for someone who lives nearby to me!!! (note: and then i think this one doxxed or pretended to dox her)
LOL fandomentalists are so stupid. Good grief, if I had nothing better to do with my life than be a raging jerkass on the internet, I'd at least hide my IP address and make sure the account wasn't connected to my regular social media in any way.
"This tweet is from an account that no longer exists" the smart move, if they did it of their own accord. or, at least, the only move available if they had ANY god damn brain of internet safety.
like I hope this person's info isn't spread to the rest of the internet, but, like, i do hope the school gets involved. parents get contacted. which is the alternative option that happened here which would be why the twitter got deleted.
fun update: apparently quite a few accounts dedicated to harassing this artist are "going private" because of this because, oh.... this might... have real life consequences.... like legal trouble... or their school being contacted....
To be fair, most people hide their shit online because they're worried about other people being idiots and assholes, not so they can be idiots and assholes with impunity themselves
And I did actually mean so that our identity couldn't be found for any reason because there are kind of a lot of terrible people out there, this case shows that clearly
true, but the USA isn't one of them, and every time lood art gets taken to court, it's legal protections just get stronger and whatever law that got used to try and send it to court gets turned to Swiss cheese
also, idiots like this never consider that if that sort of thing was enforced, yeah, maybe it would ruin all those Icky Nasty Fans, but also, like.... it would screw over a lot of victims as well
a book called "Speak" is always what I think of - a YA novel about a rape victim struggling through the consequences of what happened to her (which isn't written about in detail, iirc), and finding both healing and also justice eventually
also tbh I often feel like Christian fundamentalist rhetoric around sex often conflates assault and consensual sexual activity as "all sex outside of marriage is a sin." That's how you get campaigns to ban books about rape victims as "pornographic." (it's also how you get the horrible mishandling of many many church sex abuse cases)
but, that aside -- yeah, any kind of restriction of "pornographic" or "lewd" material is inevitably going to be hardest on material depicting the lived experience of minorities. Especially queer people, because queer people EXISTING is often considered to be a weird, sexual, adult topic that kids can't be exposed to

Allegedly, after hearing that she was lawyering up, some shitheads thought her lawyer woudl turn on her after seeing what she drew
