You know I've said before that I'm amazed Square-Enix hasn't brought back Ogre Battle to directly compete with the popularity of Fire Emblem, but mostly that's borne out of a desire to see a whole new generation get mad at bullshit mechanical sludge that is Chaos Frame.
If you never played Ogre Battle or Ogre Battle 64 your ending in both was determined mostly by a stat called Chaos Frame that boiled down to what unit you used to take over an occupied town.
Towns had a stat called Morale from 0 to 100 and your units had a similar Alignment that also ran from 0 to 100 and you needed to be in the general ballpark of the town's Morale with your average alignment to liberate it, otherwise your unit captured it. Capturing raised Chaos Frame, liberating lowered it.
The problem was that units reinforced eachother's alignment scores so unless you were constantly shuffling units around your lawful characters were all candidates for sainthood and your chaotic ones were the scum of the earth.
Or from yours truly, play OB64 as a kid and not really get Chaos Frame and what that means and then you get to the end and a shitload of your units the game has been hyping up as good guys from the last war defect and lead an entire coalition army against you while decrying you as a monster.
That aside...yeah. I'm surprised more time hasn't been invested in one of their SRPG franchises considering that market share is mostly dominated by Fire Emblem.
(then again, Triangle Strategy is in development and I'm...wondering how that will play out honestly)
