I just... A slight rant I guess...

So got a email addressing how we're not getting the papers needed when patients are in front of us apparently, but I know for a fact that when I'm working admissions, I check for that stuff. So I make sure the papers that are needed yet are signed.

The only exceptions to this are when an ambulance comes in and we have to bring the paperwork and wrist band right away or when they're under 18 and not with an adult because we can't have them sign for it then.

I've had police bring in 15 year olds for medical clearance and that police officer is not responsible for signing for them.

Which falls onto the other person whether or not they're doing it too

So my boss says even when it's an ambulance that offer to come back and have them sign it since it's not their job to do so and might not see it. It can't get in the way of tending to the patient

So here's the way I see it

Yes, you're right. Don't let it get in the way of treatment, however....

1) When I bring it over, I put it before the wristband so they would HAVE TO HAVE SEEN IT.

2) it literally takes a minute or two to sign them and if the patient can't, family or nurses can sign it for them with a note of their relationship to the patient. That's also valid

You're doing what you can in crazy times like these. This is getting really passive aggressive...

3) you say they can't do it, but they have to when admissions is closed for the night which means they can????

Okay it didn't take long. Didn't think it would but wow

The thing that also gets me about the issue of the plurk is that... They can and have gotten this information before

But there are plenty of times where I put it in with the paperwork where it would have to be seen and they still don't sign it

So I come back for charts and it's in with their charts but it's never even been signed

I mean if I've been shot I ain't signing shit lbr

Oh no that's not the one who needed it lol

There is always a verbal OK and the nurse signs it too

It's more like "we don't do this" but then they have to anyway past 8pm???

Ohhh. Huh.

It's just the contridiction that kind of bugs me?

Because it's not like they don't do it already

Like I'm not going to just let it slide even when they're in front of me and make the nursing staff do all of it. It's really just those occasions that we get an ambulance or something
