"whuchu lookin at mom"
Lynx and Paint
she still didn't show any interest in digging in her baby tank, even with the hide there, just stayed up on top of it directly under the heat lamp
Lynx and Paint
so now I'm trying a smaller sandbox directly in her usual tank, which I can control the temperature on more, and she can access it whenever she wants
Lynx and Paint
buuut still the first thing she does is go right back into her hide T_T
Lynx and Paint
I'll probably still call the vet this weekend, because I'm not sure what else I can do to try and get her to lay the eggs on her own
Lynx and Paint
(and uuugh she also really needs to poop, it's almost been two weeks, although she is still eating...)
Xenonucleic
Oooh she is definitely full of eggs
Lynx and Paint
(also possibly poop, but yeah she's pretty Round around the middle)
Lynx and Paint
don't know why she hasn't tried to dig a nest at all, though. :-(
Xenonucleic
She might not be ready yet?
Lynx and Paint
maybe? But if anything I feel like I missed the window on that. If the internet was any indication, she first started glass surfing about it back at the end of December, so that was over six weeks ago
Xenonucleic
You sure the glass surfing was related to being gravid?
Lynx and Paint
I'm not sure, that's just my guess
Xenonucleic
They do it lots of reasons
Lynx and Paint
and she may have had the eggs since December, if the first x-ray then is of the same thing
Xenonucleic
Just keep checking with the vet in case she is egg-bound
Lynx and Paint
I think the vet might've mentioned something about them not having calcium shells on...maybe it's just not possible for her to lay them normally if they're too squishy and shell-less?
Lynx and Paint
yeah, I was worried about her being egg bound
Lynx and Paint
but she's not really lethargic...she'll eat if I offer her food (not her usual lots, but she'll eat willingly) and if I let her out of her tank, she's alert, attentive and will run/crawl around
Xenonucleic
I'm sure she's fine, and she'll lay them any day now
Lynx and Paint
man I hope so ;~; been so long of trying to get her to pay any attention to the sand and I've been so anxious
Lynx and Paint
if she can't lay them, I hope there's a way they can maybe induce her to lay them without surgery
Xenonucleic
Internet says hormones can induce laying, or the vet can try manipulating the eggs out
Xenonucleic
Surgery for reptiles is avoided as much as possible
Lynx and Paint
okay, at least there's other options. And yeah, my anxiety spiraling into "what if she needs to get spayed but the surgery goes badly??" has not been great for my mental health this week
Xenonucleic
I don't think you can spay them?
Lynx and Paint
the vet did describe it as spaying, just that it's more invasive and different from a cat or dog...
Xenonucleic
Oh, apparently you can
Lynx and Paint
but it can be done so that you don't have to worry about eggs with them again, which is a big plus...
Lynx and Paint
but still very scary, so I'd rather she get them out the natural way :-(
Lynx and Paint
it's hard to look up info online because it feels like it's either conflicting info or WebMD style doomsaying...
