So I've watched the Rescue Rangers trailer and... yikes.

What bothers me more than anything else is that... okay, I get that RR was a popular show.

But the concept would've worked so much better with Bonkers.

Having rewatched the miniseries real recently, Rescue Rangers was a show that was so sincere it's almost saccharine.

It just... feels really odd to make that a cynical satire of reboot stuff.

Also, while I like some of Lonely Island's stuff... I'm not exactly optimistic about how they're gonna treat Gadget in the movie either.

The fact she's only in the trailer in a "blink and you miss it" way after the time jump isn't great.

Yikes was pretty much my reaction, too. This does NOT feel like Rescue Rangers.

and I don't know if it's just me, but I think the animation - of what I saw, cuz I was cringing so much - looked... bad? Like especially in the 2-D hand animated stuff? They looked flat, there was no shading or contouring or anything, they did NOT look like they were actually in their environment at all, just slapped on top like a sticker...

maybe I just need to look at it again, I don't know, but... ....this didn't grab my interest.

It looks like the 2-D stuff is just cel shaded 3D models... which might be why it doesn’t look quite right.

I dunno. I’m usually a “wait and see” kind of person, but I’m not at all optimistic about it.

I just looked it up out of curiosity after reading this and..."yikes" is a pretty good way to put it, yeah. I can't say I'm excited about this either.
