I woke up early not for work today but because subscriptions to a new book box opened at 7am cst this morning. I am currently sitting in a waiting room because the website is experiencing too much traffic

I've done Beacon Book Box but I'm not as happy with them I can go into detail if you're interested

Both Owl Crate and Fairy Look are YA books and then the box is bookish themed items. around the theme of the month. And the subscription I just signed up for this morning was Fairy Loot's brand new, starting in March, Adult Book Subscription - which will ONLY be the book. But the books will be up to their YA box standard

which means a mix of the following pending agreements with the publisher: author signed when possible, sprayed or stenciled edges, foil embossing on the hardback cover, custom end pages, a unique shift on the cover of the dustjacket, and artwork on the reverse side of the dust jacket

Fairy Loot's YA box does have a waitlist though - pending where you are it can be 3-8 months to get on the subscription. Their Adult box - we'll see after the day is over if they even have spaces left over or if they'll be on a wait list too. lol

So I started in Owl Crate because book box brings me joy and the signed copy with the alternate covers is just a perk. They're about $45 with tax and shipping a month. And the bookish things are a fun perk.

the bookish things range from really snuggly blankets to mugs, to puzzles, and they do pins every month that go along with the bookish theme or book of the month.

last year they did a fun drinkware collection so they had a spring, summer, autumn and winter cup - all were a little different but represented a season.

This year they're doing a quarterly bowl with the four bowls based on one of the lands from Lord of the Rings

I fell into Fairy Loot because someone mentioned them and how pretty their books are. Because they don't just do the alternate covers, but they almost always have sprayed or stenciled (or both) edges and they were doing two tarot cards in every box.

I actually spent WAY too much money hunting down the 2018-2020 tarot cards while I was on the wait list to get the box.

Just like Owl Crate, they also do blankets, mugs, puzzles, book ends, etc. in the box as well with the book.

Both of them are really great quality as a whole and I highly recommend either - though with how pretty the books are comparatively, I'd recommend Fairy Loot a little more. It's about the same price as Owl Crate too.

I can't remember how I ended up stumbling across Beacon Book Box, they're a much smaller box company that's not as old as the other two. It's family run started by the son of the family when he was about 15, but the last year or so while he's started to focus on College (which understandable) the communication has

kind of really gone down hill.

Like, I never got tracking for my December or Christmas box and even when I reached out about my December box, and their website said they were totally up to date with answering emails, I never got an answer. Two days passed and my box finally just showed up on my doorstep

The Christmas boxes they posted on the website that the boxes were shipping three weeks ago - told people they totally were and that tracking was just delayed some. When I reached out a few days ago I got told, well they are only shipping now. And tracking should follow shortly.

While I did receive my box - I never did receive my tracking.

As well, the boxes are the same cost as the other two but they have fewer items in the box and the items are as quality as Owl Crate or Fairy Loot.

They've also screwed up my boxes a few times and it took almost a month to fix when they finally answered me. So I'm not all that thrilled with Beacon Book Box.
