This thread honestly does have me happy and excited to see where it goes and playing Yota here has been, so far, a blast! I’m just sensitive to rejection and feeling ignored OOC stings a LOT, so I left the Discord group, but if games don’t work well anymore without that much OOC interaction, maybe it’s not for me anymore.

Back in the day, everyone else was using AIM, but it never worked for me, so I just played on lj. OOC contact were a few folks I was friendly with and had on MSN/WML.

Then came the plurk era and that one definitely had a bad effect on me sometimes, so I had to shrink down who I follow.

If I’m just going to get hurt and upset and annoy everyone on a semi-regular basis, it probably is best I leave. I can’t get help because of my society/culture, family, limited freedom to leave the house, inability to get a doctor’s appointment without my guardian’s knowledge and approval, etc.

I know it isn’t fun or fair for others to have to deal with my issues and they really aren’t triggered THAT often when I avoid interaction, so that’s why.

it's okay to not be part of the discord. i never have been, since i know they can be rather exhausting. it's also ok to decide what your plurk space is - i only use it for roleplay, really

i'm not sure if there's more that's happened, or if this is a lingering effect from what you spoke about the discord. but if you're not comfortable in there, it's possible to still be a part of the game without it

I left it entirely, I just end up feeling hurt way too easily if I see everyone else get replied to and me ignored. Or if I talk and conversations continue without me, etc.

yeah i understand discord spaces can be like that and it's not good to experience! esp if you're new, though i understand some discord rooms can be like that

yeah, like - just keep your plurk space what you're comfortable with it being? some people talk a lot, some people don't. i focus more on just tagging around and check in just to see if there's anything in particular, since i'm bad at being too chatty myself

i did want to ask you if you wanted to do another thread with yota and tidus! though my plans got shaken bc i had some irl stuff come up. but maybe doing the final? i would see how you feel - like, if you've been on plurk for a while, you know that plurks sometimes get traction, mostly don't. it's nothing against you, it's just the way plurk is

but there's nothing wrong with you for it. use it as you would like to

I really do get you on the awkwardness and sensitivity with social media. I have that. Some tips i recommend, firstly is not cut off entirely but to curate your experiences. If you want to come back, you then can.

If you need less, just cut down on how many you have on there, make it an rp space (or a place with purpose), don't check too many times. TBH i've never liked plurk much, but it is useful for rp purposes.

as for discord, its... an interesting place. I've been on it since the very start so im used to how it works. But even i was pretty overwhelmed with the void trekker one XC

I hope something on what I say can be of use. But if you need some time away I will happily rp with you again if/when you return. I very much like your Yota

yeah discord chats can just be a lot. or tbh i know a few people who have left the Voidtrecker discord for their own reasons. nothing wrong to do what works for you, and with your own space

i don't go here but I'm also just one of those people who tends to either ignore or forget about group discords - even small ones seem so big.

so, y'know, it's alright to not be on those. usually following the game plurk tends to be enough

+1 to game discord usually being enough. The other game I'm in doesn't even use a discord, and I get by fine. if you have your game communities subscribed to, that's also usually enough because you just go to your reading page to find logs and such
