I really like my impulsive but ridiculously flustery and old-fashioned mecha pilot.

He's a cosmopolitan from an especially long time ago, so I looked up Edwardian and Jacobean slang to give the sound of how square he is

oh that's great

it's fantastic and I have plans to use his slang for evil

I have a whole document full of such podsnappery

I am trying to make at least 70% of what he says totally understandable

and another 20% clear from context, even if you don't know EXACTLY what he means

ans 5-10% totally incomprehensible until you figure out what the noun means
