thought for the day: there is no setting in Thirsty Sword Lesbians I wouldn't rather run in Valor

MundersOWundus
i appreciate what TSL is trying to do, but unfortunately, I've never been able to actually do it in TSL

Aw

Love Snake Kaja
So the system didn't work out?

MundersOWundus
There are stats that are far more powerful than other stats, both in terms of "getting things done" and "getting players into fun nonsense," and while I like the playbooks conceptually a lot of them are half-baked at best

MundersOWundus
The game does not, in my experience, facilitate goofy disaster lesbian drama

MundersOWundus
This may be because I am bad at the game

MundersOWundus
but it's definitely disappointing

See my usual opinions re PbtA vs. Fate Core which we've dove in on before. I do wish the Sentinel Comics Role-playing Game were at all open-source, hacking it could do some neat stuff for some genres...

MundersOWundus
PBtA is definitely not the problem here: the problem is that it's poorly written and poorly playtested hack of Masks that got Evil Hat's attention and funding because it had a strong premise and great campaign settings.

Love Snake Kaja
Yeah there are good PbtA and bad PbtA

Love Snake Kaja
The way PbtA handles things might not be to your tastes but a well written one can do some great things

Love Snake Kaja
I don't even like Fate Core, actually

NekoInc, MSPM
I'll put on record I'd be willing to give another PBtA a chance, just would need to find the right one

MundersOWundus
if I run an apoc world for you it should probably be either Apoc World Second Edition, or Masks, honestly

NekoInc, MSPM
I'd definitely lean more to Masks, since post-Apoc is usually a Flat Pass for me
