I'm also very ????? at the decision to compare a work visa to slavery in general, especially when a lot of the arguments I keep seeing are "well there's a backlog of applications for citizenship from the program due to immigration quotas."
Like, yes, that's shitty (and arguably racist), but I guarantee you the defining elements of "slavery" do not involve "it takes a long time for you to get a green card"
especially since not only does the program exist with protections that bar the employer from abusing you in any number of ways (including financial), but they can't even get you deported if you report them for it. In fact you're legally protected from deportation while the investigation is underway. You can also just, y'know, quit.
I know. I know all of this. But holy shit, trying to invoke the Fairness Doctrine in the first place, even when you're doing it TOTALLY wrong... holy fuck.
