Both Big Boss and Snake are trying to use the master's tools to destroy the master's house and it's ultimately, tragically futile

all these people are using "hero" and "antagonist" as mutually exclusive opposites when that is super not the case

Big Boss and Snake are both protagonists, neither is a pure hero

The ray of hope at the end of MGS4 is that inherited ideology and the literal machinery of war that enforces it can eventually be discarded by new generations of humans, instead of everyone being consumed by the wishes of people who are or should be dead.

At the end of the day, Sunny saves the world, not Snake or Big Boss

Kojima is absolutely the antagonist of Metal Gear

the antagonist of metal gear is konami

there are multiple antagonists, of which kojima and konami are two

I can't really argue that Konami is the main antagonist in the same sense that Zero is

The metaphorical connection between the perpetuation of war and the unnecessary perpetuation of the franchise is pretty solid
