the general idea, if i read right in general is; soul copies that been pulled onto stations/the train, though the train isn't acting like a void craft/whatever is supposed to, so the tethering isn't got all its normal points, and they not sure why its acting this way

I think there's some contention as to whether it's soul copies or whether it's "your consciousness is here, your body back where you came from is comatose" - IDK that we've gotten a full answer for that one yet

Not a copy, it is their soul/essence/whatever. And normally their bodies are placed somewhere safe first before tethering, creating a better 3 point contact. Characters have 2 point contacts because their bodies are unaccounted for

but yeah, the long and short of it is, everyone still has a three-point tether; the train just didn't go through the normal processes, so it's not as stable as it would've been had they been official tethers

the only case of permadeath we've had was an NPC - someone from the same world as the train (which is gone, presumably eaten by darkness) on their own voidcraft. the voidcraft was destroyed, and even though they were physically okay, when the craft went down, so did they.
