Fff we are one for one on MBTA failures. Three feet
From north station and there’s a signal failure. Whoops
LiberBEARian
Okay on the green line now and it’s hysterical. There’s a new trainee driving and the instructor keeps coming on the radio like “right here! Right here! You got it! Little farther!”
LiberBEARian
Holy shit the squealing of this train. Poor kid keeps coming up short on the platform and then inching forward in jerks
LiberBEARian
Or maybe this is just green line idk. I love that this is both our first week
Hyatt
poor trainee. makes you glad that voices don't carry outside of cars for the most part. almost nobody overhears your own embarrassing instructions
LiberBEARian
I love the instructor “keep going. Keep going. Okay, keep going. Few more feet. Okay that’s good.”
LiberBEARian
Hyatt : she’s on the radio!!
Hyatt
like not in the driver's area? just talking to the trainee over the radio that announces stops to the train?
medieval grunge
do you have to go thru Boylston for job
medieval grunge
if so get noise canceling headphones no joke
medieval grunge
part of my massive hearing loss has been that station
medieval grunge
legit louder than planes taking off
LiberBEARian
Hyatt : yep
LiberBEARian
medieval grunge : holy shit
Shanta Claws
That’s just the green line
Shanta Claws
medieval grunge : I’m pretty sure I lost a lot of hearing going to emerson
medieval grunge
7 years of taking the green line, yeah
gelise
Boylston is both loud and haunted af
ruthgaroux ♥︎
the entire stretch from like copley to park street feels like descending into the depths of hell lmao
Shanta Claws
medieval grunge : only 5 for me but yeah it was a little better when I switched to over the ear headphones.
gelise
They found a mass grave of redcoats when they were digging up Boylston, so I’m not saying it’s the British getting their revenge on us, but I’m not NOT saying that
𝒻𝒶𝓃𝒸𝓎 𝒸𝑜𝒻𝒻𝑒𝑒
LiberBEARian
gelise : holy shit man. I wanna look this up
LiberBEARian
That’s insane
gelise
There's a book I read about the digging out of Park Street and Boylston - the Race Underground, and it mentions the bodies. Plus there's that old cemetery on that side of the Common that they had to move around. Boston Common, full of bodies!
bluecanary
I knew it wasn't just me... I took the Boston subway when I was in town to visit people and I was like holy fuck this noise is scary
bluecanary
and they were like nah it's fine
ruthgaroux ♥︎
gfglkf yeah when i first moved here and took the green line it was VERY JARRING
ruthgaroux ♥︎
me, a baby: is... is the train ok.....
Billie Sue 🌻
LOL yeah the green line is......loud
Billie Sue 🌻
I remember being on it as a kid though and loving it when it was busy because the green line cars have that weird connecting space between the cars that you can stand in and like. The floor turns?
Billie Sue 🌻
think of it as like, a joint bending
Billie Sue 🌻
and I loved that it felt like being in a fun house lolol
LiberBEARian
It is fun! Just. Painful. I have headphones and bad ears already
bluecanary
D:
bluecanary
I mean a normal subway is like
bluecanary
oh it's a missile the size of several busses going through a fucking underground cave about 4 feet away from you
bluecanary
terrifying???
bluecanary
like I can use them it's not a problem but I feel like no one is properly understanding how fucked up this whole thing is
bluecanary
we are in hell and that's a worm that screams
LiberBEARian
Hahahaha
medieval grunge
oh yeah i was on a tour once, basically confirmed the fact that all the graveyards in boston are just tombstones, because the bodies are just buried all over the place because of how much the main boston area changed, they didn't bother moving the bodies from where people had put them
medieval grunge
so red coats and civilians alike, yes
gelise
Oh yeah. The common was were criminals were hung, so their family members would sneak onto the common at night and cut down their deceased loved ones and just bury them wherever they could. Just lots and lots of unmarked graves.
gelise
Another place they found a ton of bodies is over by that parking garage, where Pope John Paul II spoke.
gelise
(confession time, I used to be a tour guide in Boston once upon a time, lol)
LiberBEARian
Haha holy shit. I want to rent your services for a private tour now
LiberBEARian
