but you could also do a smash with this whiskey. the basically formula is 2 oz whiskey + 1 oz citrus juice (usually lemon or lime) + [something else]. For a maple smash, as an example, you'd add in maple syrup, for a fruit smash, you could add either smashed fresh fruit or you could do a spoonful of a preserve

for me jack daniels being such a stickler about that distinction seems more like they're putting on airs than anything that can really be tasted, but that's just me
