I can't remember if I've talked about this here, but my dad and stepmom have been in the process of buying a second house in the middle of nowhere for, and I quote, "when shit hits the fan" (they're both very Republican, far right, conservative, and conspiracy theorists). and I've seen photos of the house, and it's actually really nice! well they signed the

papers to buy it this morning, and we're going to spend Christmas there next weekend

my stepmom is going early to clean, prep, and cook, but my dad is driving me and my brothers up there on Friday, and we're staying until Sunday. one of my stepbrothers and his wife are coming, and I'm not sure who all else is? but knowing this family, I'll be one of the last to know

but here's the kicker, and also why I brought up that they're conspiracy theorists: the house has A METAL ROOF. as in, it blocks any and all cell signal, and the only time you can get service is when you step outside! but! it's gonna be like 50 degrees next weekend

so I'm not gonna feel like going outside much if at all because I get cold easily. and two days without cell service isn't a huge deal, I've got books I can bring and I might download a couple of fanfics to my phone, but if I have no cell service on top of feeling like shit, I'm not gonna have a great time :/ so I am praying the side effects wear off soon

and if not, then I hope that at least whoever comes to spend Christmas with us will act as a buffer between me and my stepmom and her barrage of political talk.

because I don't need to be feeling sick PLUS unable to contact my friends in the comfort of a warm house PLUS hearing anti-Democrat/Biden/vaccine talk for the whole weekend

that just sounds like a fucking nightmare

also I do not plan on telling my stepmom I got the vaccine because she will lecture me UNTIL THE END OF TIME about it
