His god was facing an uprising from their worshipers

And losing

So he kept on getting ordered to use crueler and crueler tactics

And he kind of had to take all his feelings and put them right here

And then one day, hopefully before he had to face them, he’d DIE

Anyway the final battle that defeated the rebels was based around a space colony that had been identified as the rebel hq

In which the god’s orders were “remove them by any means necessary”
Gabiluzbad
And my guy decided to take the scorched earth approach
Gabiluzbad
And dump the entire colony into a gas giant
Gabiluzbad
It worked, but in the rebel’s last stand they were able to kill the enemy commander, at least
Gabiluzbad
With that loss, the rebellion’s morale was shattered, their leadership annihilated, and the god was satisfied

Sure it cost them like thirty thousand people and an expensive space colony, but order had been restored and in time the losses could be restored
Gabiluzbad
The god's priests spoke out, saying that the general went too far but that now at least peace was restored
Gabiluzbad
The general woke up in a landfill for dead mechs
Gabiluzbad
He had really thought he was dead
Gabiluzbad
But now he was alive and guess what all those FEELINGS he had been hiding weren't going to hide anymore

Now he has to grapple with a few facts:

- The god used him as a scapegoat the MINUTE it was convenient

- He was NOT in paradise of the afterlife, as promised

- He was now a mass murderer and one of the most hated people in the system
