that's like a spider's defining attribute and TPC can't remember how many legs there are, so Lusamine is just like eight legs? my, that's quite a lot...
Pokemon Designer A: how many legs do spiders have again? Pokemon Designer B: 6...? i think it was 6 Pokemon Designer C: you're both dumb it's obviously 4 legs
someday someones gonna come out with a pokemon game with some truly cthulhuesque designs. like there's already some hardcore fridgehorror going on with pokemon
i think their first attempt was with the Ultra Beasts like...they're still mostly leaning toward cutesy but Xurkitree and Guzzlord are pretty out there-looking when you put them next to other Pokemon. but Eternatus is definitely a prime example
the worst offender of that however is Galarian Meowth....who i adored the design of until i saw it in-game and realized it was not a big fluffball and rather a skinny Meowth with a beard stuck to it
one of Galar's saving graces...even if she is admittedly pretty one-note i am more than willing to read far too much into her like 10 lines of dialogue so she has truly stolen my heart
I wish we got literally anything about her in the game besides some red herring flagging and one fight that comes out of nowhere and gets no explanation!!
and the fact that she apparently invented the Dynamax Bands (and therefore is responsible for like a HUGE part of Galar's battling culture) and yet that is never actually mentioned in the games?? ok...........
to be fair i think her connection to Bede gives her more depth than most gym leaders get...but of course that's setting the bar super low because gym leaders are mostly forgettable klgj;klh
Raihan and Leon are so wildly popular i feel like they're the only thing keeping SwSh relevant fandom-wise and yet every SwSh adaptation has like...weirdly resisted fleshing them out more
Pokemon Designer B: 6...? i think it was 6
Pokemon Designer C: you're both dumb it's obviously 4 legs
