Just found out someone in town died

literally yesterday

i knew him, sort of, roughly, from when i was a dispatcher, too. He asked me if i wanted to go out to town once years ago, and i turned him down once because I just was not vibing with dating in rural hell while being very queer

I heard before the weekend that covid cases were popping up in town.... jfc wasn't expecting it to hit quite like this

I've been wearing a mask while taking the dogs on their walks, and a part of me did wonder if maybe i was being stupid because i rarely ever run into anyone on walks..... but nah i am clearly not being overly cautious enough

so that guy might have been a coworker's uncle.... and his son had to be airlifted out of town the same day he died.

apparently things are not looking good, and she came in to talk with my boss and cry.

holy fuck

it is. probably very bastard of me. but a part of me was also kind of wondering when this would happen. because of course her family were not inclined to get vaccinated. including her. and she's only getting vaccinated because our company might make it mandatory.

(which, boy, sure infuriated me when i first heard, because i heard this after i had to have virtual video classes with her in an enclosed conference room, and she repeatedly tried to encourage me that i didn't need to wear my mask)

ugh. what a fuckin' mess. i feel bad for her.

even if her family member survives, it's... not going to be good, with long covid.
