Anyway though, if you in go for your first colonoscopy and all goes well, do not be a dumbass like yours truly and eat too much too fast afterward, no matter how starved you are or how good it tastes.

I have now dubbed my @#$*&%# gallbladder 'Karen' because it pitched a gigantic hissy fit at about four o'clock in the morning and sent me and the husband racing to the ER. The pain I was in all the way there was comparable to that of childbirth.

(On the plus side, in addition to knowing that I don't have major colon issues, I now also know courtesy of a CAT scan and ultrasound that I don't have kidney or gallstones and my ovarian cyst is still behaving itself. So there's that.)

yeeaaah i had mine at like 10am and then came home still hazy from semi-sedation, ate a frozen yogurt bar and fell asleep for a few hours.

Yeah, that's the thing I've heard the most about, that the prep liquid is awful to choke down.

And...other problems with the whole "cleaning out your system beforehand" process.

yeah the prep liquid is gross and you have to down it within a specified time period

Mis : I read through some message boards for people who've had it done, and had some strong peppermint gum on hand to chew as I was sipping the stuff through a straw. It wasn't fun. but I managed it all right. Desitin is also recommended.

Because of family history for Spousal Minion, he's had to go every five years since he was 30. And I feel like each time for him, depending on the doctor/practice, the prep is different. The first couple of times, he had the gallon of stuff. The next couple, magnesium citrate and dulcolax. Next time? We'll find out!
