Zigzag Stampede
Found out today that I have weird feet and a weird walk cycle.

Zigzag Stampede
I mean, I knew the weird feet thing because I have a birth defect that means my right foot sticks out slightly at a weird angle and I'm hyper mobile

Zigzag Stampede
But I've been having a strange tightness in my foot lately when I stretch it a certain way so I went and saw an expert about it.

Zigzag Stampede
First he was just all: Yuuuuuuup. You are certainly hyper-mobile and there was a brief period of being amazed by my stretchiness soon followed by confusion as he tried to locate the source of tightness I was feeling

Zigzag Stampede
We think we pinpointed it, but it's in an odd spot as the spot that seems to trigger it the most is not exactly in the right spot to where he thinks a pinched nerve might be, but he suspects that might be due to my weird foot and extra stretchy capabilities

Zigzag Stampede
He also watched me walk and I have discovered that not everyone steps with the balls of their feet first, but in fact.... almost no one does this. It is a strange me thing

Zigzag Stampede
Turns out most people walk with their heel and then their toes

Zigzag Stampede
Which explains SO MUCh

Zigzag Stampede
It's not something he's concerned with or anything he's going to try to have me fix BUT I'M GOING TO FOCUS ON IT

Zigzag Stampede
I think it might have come about as I tried to self correct my wonky leg as a kid and often walk trying to think POINT TOES STRAIGHT

Zigzag Stampede
that and I wanted to be a fairy ninja growing up so of course you need to walk on your toes to be as quiet at possible

Zigzag Stampede
but yeah... might also explain the tension I always seem to have in my calves. So I might try to think about walking differently for as long as I can

Zigzag Stampede
Long story short he's not too concerned about the pain (and neither am I really as it only happens when I specifically do a motion. I just wanted to get it checked before it gets worse)

Zigzag Stampede
I have some stretches to start doing daily and a follow up appointment in 3 months to see if the stretches are helping any

One of my friends walks on the balls of her feet a lot.

huh, interesting!

i used to run funny as a kid, because my legs are like an inch different in length

the human body is weird

And, depending on my mood, I walk toe -> heel a lot like that myself. Usually because I hate the sound of pounding heels, so I feel like I have to walk quietly, and toe -> heel walking is usually quieter than heel -> toe walking.

But, I also have other issues with my gait.

i just learned how to walk quietly as a kid haha
