i think it says a lot about my dm's skill that the main combat today was, just, so horrifying, like i was whispering "i hate it" multiple times every round, and, also, this same combat involved the sentence "it dodges both your attacks. it just wiggles, like a slime wearing clothes."

That sounds like A+ dming to me
