[books] anyone have any fae nonsense type of books they'd recommend? I dunno why, but I got a hankering for fae bullshit of all kinds. I feel like
kates!!
would have some

kates!!
Iiiii am assuming you've read Holly Black's stuff already? her Folk of the Air trilogy has lots of peak fae nonsense

kates!!
An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson is another good choice

мαи∂α
I have not! And sounds like an amazing place to start, I have read An Enchantment of Ravens which was fantastic (and I think on your recommendation too)

if you are cool with doorstoppers, jonathan strange & mr norrell (the tv adaptation is also solid but the book is better imo)

wooper
hmmm....what type of nonsense? https://us.macmillan.com/... comes to mind

departed 👻
it's just, like. humongous

wooper
there's a fine selection of urban fantasy with fae in it

kates!!
seconding Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and also seconding that it is humongo. that's a book that could kill someone if dropped on their head from a decent height

wooper
for sadistic/cruel fae,
The Call
is fantastic

мαи∂α
honestly, any kind of fae nonsense with their rules and people having to figure out dealing with them and their mischief, I'm getting smatterings of it in FF14 and it's making me want to read more things related to it haha

мαи∂α
all of these are fantastic suggestions

js&mn has a TON of fucky fae weirdness which is my fave part about it tbh

departed 👻
proper blue and orange morality society doing their freak thing

departed 👻
there is just So Much Lore

poking around in a book-suggestion database our library's got access to brought up some books I haven't read (Dreams and Shadows by C. Robert Cargill, The Stolen Child by Keith Donohue, The Will and the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmburg) and one that I read and I quite enjoyed (Under the Pendulum Sun by Jeannette Ng)

мαи∂α
thank you all!!! Time to build a list and see what our library has

Mothman
if you want something a bit sillier I'd recommend the Good Fairies of New York

Mothman
if you want something darker maybe House of Hollow which is more changeling themed

мαи∂α
both sound awesome

мαи∂α
going through now to see what my library has, looks like it has a ton of Holly Black's books in physical, ebook, and audiobook form

мαи∂α
library didn't have all of these, but it had a dang good chunk. bless libraries
