Ru was being awful and in the chaos of trying to get him off of the top ledge of a door and a food delivery coming at the same time, the front door was left open and Merrill got out

At 10am I woke up and in my routine morning cat greetings realized Merrill was nowhere to be found

So the theory was she hadn't gone far, unless someone saw her and panicked. She big, she had no collar, and she'll willingly say hi to most strangers

I woke up Phil and he went looking out in the apartment halls and I stayed in the apartment

LUCKILY. Phil found her at the top of the stairwell to the 17the floor. Just chilling and utterly covered in dust and grime

She came in and ate, had water, used the litter box and then I worried that she left an unwanted gift in the hallway

She did not. She is so well trained, my god

She still has dust embedded in her fur that I've been slowly getting at with a damp cloth and well timed belly rubs but otherwise fine from the excursion

Went she came back in, Ru looked at her like she grew a second head. He was sniffing her and usually he'll fight her or swat at her, but this time he just seemed in awe
