anyone have experience with walking treadmills / that type of exercise equipment for at home use?
мαи∂α
I'm thinking of getting something to have at home, since I'll be working from home at least 3 days a week for now (once we start that schedule next week) and I'm in Texas, so the weather does not always allow for being outside for longer than brief periods
мαи∂α
but they're expensive, so doing research into them before I make any decisions and wanted to know if anyone had personal experience with them lol
The State
I use a rower and love it a lot!!
The State
it's far lighter & easier to move than a treadmill. it has wheels for moving and can be stored upright
The State
it's also no-impact and a full-body cardio

мαи∂α
oh snap, do you have a link to the one you have?
мαи∂α
I was mostly looking at a walking treadmill since I have a standing desk, which would mean I could work / do whatever I need to on the computer while using it
мαи∂α
but a rower looks pretty boss
The State
Tbh, I got an under-desk bicycle years ago and barely ever used it. I just can't do two things at once that way lol.
The State
I have a Concept 2 which is basically the gold standard in rowing
The State
the cheaper ones are pretty well-respected tho
Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic Rowing Machine Rower...
мαи∂α
okay that may be out of my price range, but it looks gorgeous. no wonder it has amazing reviews
мαи∂α
that sunny health & fitness brand was the one I was checking the treadmill of too
Sunny Health & Fitness Walkstation Slim Flat Treadmi...
мαи∂α
the mixed recent reviews were one of the reasons I wanted to ask around haha
The State
I'm a HUGE fan of rowing over treadmills though I'll admit haha
The State
I absolutely hate running, but I feel like I can get into the rhythm with rowing
мαи∂α
I'm open to it, I'm mostly looking for something that I can easily slide somewhere like under the bed and pull out when I want to use it
The State
I don't think you could fit even a collapsed rower under a bed, but it doesn't take up much space collapsed or upright
The State
I leave mine in my living room, lol
wooper
Sunbreaker uses one!
мαи∂α
rude of it, but I could probably find an out of the way spot to tuck it away if it doesn't take much space upright haha
The State
they recommended this one which looks reasonably priced and flips upright:
Stamina Rowing Exercise Machine - Foldable
мαи∂α
thank you!!! I'll take a peek at that one too
Sunbreaker
This is the under desk treadmill I have:
Unsit Treadmill Desk
Sunbreaker
My brother also has one
Sunbreaker
This is more for if you wanna be able to walk like eight straight hours while working.
мαи∂α
Sunbreaker that is definitely something I have considered wanting to do
Sunbreaker
I tested to concept with a much cheaper treadmill and burned out the motor after like three months cause most non-"industrial" treadmills aren't good for extended use.
Sunbreaker
So it's very spendy but we've found it to be worth it
мαи∂α
oh lord yeah I just saw the price tag LOL
Sunbreaker
I normally put in like 4-6 miles a day
мαи∂α
curse you both are your fancy equipment
Sunbreaker
Yeah. With treadmills, if you want something that is quiet, rated for fat people like me, and able to run all day, it's gonna cost you big.
Sunbreaker
As a cheap alternative, I did use one of these for many months! mini stepper
Sunbreaker
I ended up switching to treadmill because it was hurting my feet, but I have incredibly shitty feet full of arthritis
Sunbreaker
The only thing with these is you gotta soak em down with WD-40 if you don't want them to make horrible creaking sounds (and then you wanna put a cheap little rug or pieces of plywood under them so the WD-40 doesn't get into your carpet)
Sunbreaker
And like honestly I'd recommend doing that first cause if you discover that you can't walk and type at the same time or you hate it or whatever, you're only out like fifty bucks
мαи∂α
what's the name of that treadmill? it looks like the link decided to break
мαи∂α
I also saw how much the unsit one weighs, 165lbs would be an adventure to get up to a 3rd floor apartment hahaha
Sunbreaker
Whew yeah you would want to hire movers tbh. Cause they only deliver the treadmill freight.
Sunbreaker
Oh for the mini stepper just Google "gold's gym mini stepper"
Sunbreaker
You can get one of those for $45 at Walmart
мαи∂α
thank you, and yeah I absolutely would if I ever invested in something that hardcore LOL
Nishi
I use Schwinn 130 Upright Bike this guy. DOWNSIDES: it has the most ass backwards compatibility with fitness trackers. It's terrible. It's app is awful
UPSIDES: the user interface is easy, intuitive, and it's a nice comfortable exercise for even long goes
мαи∂α
I still remember having to bring up an 100 lb bed frame with my younger brother and that being a struggle
Nishi
Treadmills we decided against just because of HOW MUCH SPACE they use
Nishi
And heavy as hell
Nishi
So, bike and elliptical
мαи∂α
thank you for the link nishi!!!
Nishi
(it's also good for me being heavier. Less stress on the knees and ankles)
