[kittens] I haven't been kittenplurking as much but trust me, they are still VERY cute

plans for enclosing their exercise pen so they can have the extra space full time are proceeding apace

got a nice bundle of cheap bamboo canes which are being used to extend the pen upward (so I don't have to crawl when I go in) and we'll safetypin a sheet all along them

"kittens can climb fabric Lyssie" yes well I'm HOPING they won't TRY

and just for good measure I nabbed a sheer curtain to pin over the top, in the event that a very adventurous kitten DOES get up there

socialization-wise: Tux is still a sweet baby who loves pettings and orbits me for several minutes every time I let them out before settling in to play with her brothers

Tall is GETTING friendly, they got some out time just now because I heard him quietly 'mrah'ing at me and when I opened the door he just sat there purring before coming to me for pettins and cuddling up to my leg

there was actually a moment where Tux and Tall were lowkey competing for my attention lmao.

Tiny is still a shy lil cryptid who baps at me when I reach for him, but I'm keeping up the effort. he seems to like the pettins well enough when I do break through his defenses, the little goober, so it's just a matter of getting him used to them being a thing.

Tall used to be a cryptid too and now he's a purrbox well on his way to becoming a cuddlebug

I have a package coming from Chewy with a KITTEN BRUSH in it, gonna get these good kiddos used to GROOMING

tux has long fur that is very fine and soft, so unless she has magical mat-repelling powers like Neffie, who only ever gets small mats in her armpits in winter, she's going to need to be okay with brushing

fortunately, she has long since decided that she loves humans paying attention to her, so it'll probably be fine

what I think is neat is that they're very gradually starting to get more vocal!

like, not that they WEREN'T vocal in their Starving Garage Feral days, where I would instantly be met with a chorus of MIIIIIIIIIIIII when I opened the door, but like. that was when they were starving.

now they're comfortable and don't have to worry about food, so they've been quiet, BUT, they're starting to try out making noise for attention

like Tall this evening, and one time Tux was meeping at me

they're starting to learn how to communicate with humans :3
