We did a big cave today! This is the APE Cave on the south side of Mt St Helens, which is the longest lava tube in the mainland U.S.

And Rael brought his brighter-than-the-sun flashlights.

Oh my god, those are amazing photos.

3/4 of a mile is the section we did. We could have gone the other way and climbed a mile and a half up boulder piles into the pitch black.

I also did a very very small cave, which involved crawling and scrambling. I took video, which I’ll post later. It was two trees, that the lava flowed over and cast in stone. You could see every detail of the bark preserved in it.

Tiny cave. Video makes it look larger, but it's about 20" tall for the first bit, and then crouching height once I turn the corner. I'd watch without sound. Claustrophobes don't click.
