i moved before the bad shit happened, and i shall be staying with ffxiv for as long as i can.

Wow, I guess I'm -still- a bit bitter about that.

I'm seeing more people in WoW lately, it seems everywhere I go in game, there are scores of people even in areas where it used to be basically empty.

The one thing that still annoys me with FFXIV is the visuals of the things happening in dungeons and raids. If it's not the red marked area on the ground or the pointing-down arrows, then it's just a whirl and splash and explosion of colors.

If they'd reduced that a bit, I'd welcome that.

you can reduce that in your settings

the bad guy goop is usually red, opaque blue, or a black with red and green effect. there's some special ones for special bosses but if all the explosions and stuff are making it hard for you to stay out of the goop there's settings to lower that

Yeah, I adore FFXIV - for so many reasons. Including an amazing community - and for a scandel, the worst I can imagine is that it comes out that Yoshi P uses mods.

I have seen the stream where he talked about it and told that they will add SOME thing but not an outright dps meter.

I played FFXIV the last time I was disenchanted with a particular WoW expansion. It was okay, but the storytelling didn't really grab me. Outfits were cute. Did GW2 until the jumping and riding stuff became unplayable for me. I am pretty limited in what I can play, and WoW has worked for me. And I am very much in love with this expansion.

We aren't playing right now, but I hope to be able to at some point in the near future. Honestly, the voices predicting the demise of WoW are no different than the voices predicting the end of SL and WoW is doing way better than SL is. Yes, Activision needs to take this shit seriously. So do the other gaming companies. We have been asking for over a decade.

there's been some minor scandals... mostly stereotypical characterizations of racial features, and some weird creepy shit the american localization translators stuck in flavour text for a minion... but nothing massive

Didn't play for months now.

i played through the bulk of the last wow expansion, got to where i had to group up with others, and quit. because i'm a DPS with no guild, i would spend hours waiting in queue and then once i got into a PUG people were assholes. had one group leave me behind because my net's slow so it takes me a moment to fully load into a dungeon, i had never been in

and didn't know where to go, and they just left me behind and refused to hang back or even acknowledge me in chat

stopped being fun really fast

on the flip side in FFXIV the other day my internet started to have trouble which made it hard for me to get away from dungeon events quickly since i was lagging behind the game by a few seconds. alerted the rest of my party to that fact, and they stuck it out with me, i stayed alive and got all 3 commendations from that dungeon

This expansion is all about being a psychopomp - and they backed off on all the stupid dungeon/raid requirements. Plenty of folks aren’t into this one, but I would play a whole game just about this stuff! Which of course is when Blizz shits the bed.

And totally not minimizing the absolute badness there either. Just noting they are sadly not the exception and not the worst.
