listening to this again. It's staggering how cursed the 2nd Pacific Squadron was with how everything that could go wrong did.

The poor admiral in charge tried to cope with the unique challenges of his command by making up nicknames for his ships. The cursed ship Kamchatka which was the bane of his life was nicknamed the "Lecherous slut" and seeing him shouting over the side of his ship to the Kamchatka 5 miles away was a common sight to his crew.
