Yeah you want a DPS essence, and ideally DPS actions. Lost Rend Armor is great to bring if you have it as a melee DPS; it boosts the damage taken from EVERYONE. Doesn't stack though so only 1-2 people cross-alliance can use it, but if you're queing with randos odds aren't bad that nobody elsed will have it

If you have Essence of the Beast and Lost Assasination, you can combine them to get a semi permanent Lost Font of Power buff as long as your Assassination charges hold out.

The most important thing to know is that all the mechanics are decently well telegraphed, but getting hit will give you a stacking debuff that will give you doom if you get hit twice.
