to continue chasing up one Bond where they haven't sent me the usual notification of its December value. The last letter (from June 2020) was just useless blurb. After a long phone queue I find my policy got secretly transferred to a different office which failed to contact me and it's now closed.

made a dent in some of the rest of the paperwork but still has a belated (3 months late!) tricky decision to make about an ISA. All the rates are rubbish, especially theirs.

that doesn’t sound particularly fulfilling. Mind you, I do get a feeling of satisfaction when things are done and dusted.

this stuff especially because, like domestic chores (including eating), it's never done (or dusted!). There's always another problem (or piece of paperwork etc) from the same source along straight away.
