Much to my own shock and surprise this turns out to be a legit military vehicle.

They made 600 of thm.

Naturally, this was built by the French who, for those not big into military history, have a refreshing "What the hell, see if it works" attitude towards military designs and solutions. That...sometimes works out.

would be cool to see what happens if used while driving.

Fun fact: it was meant to be removed from the Vespa and then fired, but it's a recoilless rifle, so it could technically be fired not only from the vehicle but on the move. Supposedly only for emergencies.

Yes, but we're all enchanted by the notion of firing-while-driving lol

Oh, yeah it'd work great. Just boom and there goes a Soviet tank, really - if you overcome the bigger problem, which is aiming.
