It's time for a story about my mom

When she was in high school, the school offered cooking and sewing classes for girls, and wood and metal shop classes for boys

(Though she changed it later for complicated reasons)

And she was interested in wood shop

So she signed up for it

And they let her

Because they didn't realize she was a girl

And she took the class and loved it

Then the next year they made a Shop For Girls class

where you make cutting boards and decorative wall hangings

Apparently she was also the first girl in her elementary school to wear pants

I guess mom was kind of a tomboy

ANYWAY I thought that was a neat little "stick it to the man!" story

She also took sewing and cooking and liked those too
