I don't know you but thank you for sharing this. I lost my cat to cancer in November last year and I didn't realize until he was gone exactly how important he had been for my emotional health, so I relate deeply to this.

I brought a new cat home from the shelter 3 weeks later (basically as soon as i could), and he has been exactly the companion I needed to help me through my grief. I hope Yukikaze is able to do that for you, and that you never feel like you're just trying to "replace" Yigg with a new snake

This made me cry a little bit because it made me think of the only dog on this planet I ever considered "my dog", Zozo. She passed away in April in a really horrific way and just. It absolutely gutted me in a way I hadn't expected. Even to this day I miss her snoring at the foot of my bed and the basement is too quiet without her around.

Like, I had a rat like this. I had a number of rats like this, but this one was devoted to me. She was a perfect child. She lived two years and died of old age related pneumonia in my hands. It destroyed me.
