so I've been rewatching Breaking Bad right? and I've noticed something with a startling clarity that for some reason I never picked up on when I was watching the show for the very first time

Jesse never wanted to be involved in this high profile drug kingpin world. he would have remained completely happy just cooking his own stuff and spiking it with chili powder, and even in the small number of episodes I've rewatched so far, he tried to get out of it multiple times, but Walter kept dragging him back in

either literally, or through some other means, like manipulation

like... Jesse even went to his parents, he was trying to get clean, he was looking for actual jobs and trying to sell his house because of... all the happenings there in season 1

but Walter always talked him out of bettering his life, just because he needed a lackey to do all the heavy lifting
