I miss real food SO BAD. And no, chocolate pudding and jello does not count. I have been on liquids since last Wednes. I will be on liquids for the foreseeable future as far as i am concerned.
The blockers wore off prob sometime Friday. By Saturday I started feeling lower back/upper gluteal pain. By Sunday AM was on my way to the ED because the pain was so intense it was going down the back of my leg. I was in tears, as well as embarrassed because I had to tell the folks I work with that 'my butt hurt".
It was enough pain that they put me on dilauded and Valium through my IV first thing. And during exam the doc found a bruise on the base of my spine that went up the spine a few inches and across for a couple. After an abdomen CT we found out that I have degenerative osteoarthritis in the base of my spine.
I got a prescription for more Valium and told to take the last of my post-opetation pain oxycodone meds and to call my doctor in the AM to get more to deal with pain until the bruise and swelling goes down. Doc told me that basically the pain is very similar to a ruptured disk. SIDE NOTE - I do not EVER want to get a ruptured disk because fuck that!
was able to make it without more oxycodone than I already had. so good there. Pain finally alleviated by Monday evening maybe?
And then some time after midnight I started vomiting up the water I was drinking. I remember 4-5 times, Bear says it was more. Couldn't even hold my nausea meds down. So after another Dr call
I was told that I am back on clear liquids and they ordered me dissolveable nausea meds (dissolve on the tongue) and told to drink one ounce every 15 min using an actual ounce measurement.
The ED doc and my mom (ICU nurse) think the bruise might have been caused by the length of time or the position I was in while I was on the operating table - plus when they move pts they are not always 'gentle'.
Tonight is the first time I have felt clear headed enough to use my phone. it made me feel dizzy and kind of nauseous for past 2 days, trying to read it.
