I've switched away from google when searching for references because my results have just been poor (but still use it for general search). I've mentioned this to numerous people over the past few years. They need to bring back topic-based searches so that feedback-driven search results only influence a particular topic instead of everybody's searches. These feedback-driven algorithms have the potential to make everybody stupider because we all find the same results when querying.
