what if i said (i would like to write my tags please)
but my brain said (spend 3+ days just completely rewriting the sorrow of werlyt from the premise up in the most self indulgent and most anime ways possible in bullet point fix-it fic format)

maybe your brain is right

i am still hashing out what goes on in the middle and in what order because there's a lot of motivation reshuffling but some of my key points are:
ραяту fιи∂єя
your brain is write and you should do it
skarme
- gaius's kids are a splinter of the werlyt resistance who took his stupid philosophy to heart and are trying to hijack the weapons with little sense of self preservation
- they get badly injured because of their decisions but are rescued
- valens is gaius's protege who just thinks he's gone soft
- absence of torture children because what the fuck was that
skarme
- some of the garlean defectors in the ironworks take issue with working with gaius after a while and cid has to work thru his feelings about smoothing it over vs them having a point
- gaius gets to expound on his stupid strength philosophy wrt his military backstory and gives away his blind spot about the imperialist system itself potentially being wrong
skarme
- nero is there, does not engage with gaius whatsoever except to say one incisive thing at one point then he returns to just bullying cid
- one of my ocs crashes the g-warrior into sapphire weapon
- one of my ocs decks gaius in the face
skarme
i just think the most egregious part of the entire arc is everyone rushing to treat gaius as a changed man all of a sudden when he literally hasn't changed his outlook and says as much, he doesn't engage with where he got his views, he doesn't even engage with what the words he likes to say mean
skarme
i don't think he should have had that dramatic turnaround because it's side content and he will probably pop up again, i just wanted him to have any introspection at all and not surf from distraction to distraction looking increasingly unintelligent for his total lack of it
skarme
so punching him in the face is... very anime, not a sophisticated way of pointing out the material harm that he is perpetuating despite being on the "good" side out of practicality, but i like this kind of anime trope and unsophisticated is more than nothing

It may be unsophisticated but it is very cathartic fwiw

it is
CHARISMA SURFER
“Very anime” works since the storyline clearly wanted to be a mecha anime anyway.

the most self indulgent and anime part is sticking a turning point for my oc's character arc in there after he punches gaius and it just delights me unnecessarily to think about
