people think I should be more messed up about being woken by a bear while outside having a nap. And a lot less upset by having to deal with humans way too much. Also people are stupid...

I mean I'd be scared but logically if you and bear occupy the same area eventually you'll see one another I guess

agreeing with beken that it was somewhat inconsiderate of the bear unless it wanted your help.

As to the reason, I don't know if it had a reason. Our conversation was:

Me: screams
Bear: runs off very quickly

So maybe I was supposed to be helpful in some way. It felt rather inconsiderate.

Maybe if it was better at saying, "hey, bear coming through here, don't worry about me" before it was going to be so shocking...

yes - presumably other bears are better at reading bear body language?

Human didn't really get a chance to think before the bear was already running off...

well, no - one usually reacts rather than stops to think in such circumstances.
