Any character that has done the Mechagnome unlocking quest can just go back to the same teleporter platform and it will work.

There is an empty platform about halfway down the path to the Horde landing on the island. If you've done the Mechagnome quest there will be a working teleporter on it.

I never noticed it myself because there is no reason for an Alliance toon to ever go that way.
