(died twice to them because I'm stubborn and refused to just come back later, or, oh I don't know, not put the vampire in the middle of open water where he dies of water burns)
it's basically irrelevant if you're doing something like the tapestry (my decisions matter? in a dragon age game? it's more likely than - lol nah they're meaningless)
(mostly the bit about seeing something deeper in the Gur chain of command, when Astarion has specific dialogue about that if you get the right chain going, where he says none of his plans are ever direct, and involve lengthy chains of command)
so it makes sense that asking the hunter w the speak to the dead spell would = no mention of Cazador, and I mean yeah it's possible that Astarion's perspective is skewed, but the route where he's the MC leans more towards his own view of Cazador's efforts as being correct
plus it makes the replay value of the game that much higher since most people play tepid on first runs and then roll back in for chaotic or asshole attempts
I'm gonna be honest I've had some clothing glitches while playing, and every time naked Astarion is on the beach in daylight it's like a bright empty spot where a vampire used to be
(also for context Abby and I discovered the other day you could remove everyone's armor completely when Astarion killed my main character and I looted their body)
spends a lot of time today thinking about the fact that if you give Astarion a chance and don't pawn him off/force him out, he default refuses the temptation to murder everyone in your group
the alignment system has always been a bit wonky, but evil is self-serving and "MY FRIENDS ARE WORTH MORE TO ME THAN WHATEVER YOU'RE OFFERING" is a pretty sound evil-aligned decision
anyway this playthrough I got different 'except for' dialogue which is hilarious and I'm now wondering if it's random or hinges on who you've got with you
I was gonna bring up the romance cutscenes as proof he doesn't need to fuss with that but then I remembered everyone in hollywood goes that route so yeah, actually, I buy it
