[DBH] I have finished the game!
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Somehow I managed to save everyone. Kara, Alice, Luther, Connor, Hank, Markus, North, Simon, Josh... Everyone survived.
PROFESSOR
Congrats!!!! That’s not very easy hahahah
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
I'm still not sure how I managed to do it.
God Bird
Congrats!!! Not easy at all
Toss
Wow, congrats!
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Now, in all honesty: I am a worldbuilding geek and while I enjoy the worldbuilding in this, there are a few plotholes here and there that I picked out. However, it's definitely not stopped me from wanting to play in this world. >.>
God Bird
Yeah, I agree. I really like the start that they made, but there's a lot of space for this world to grow in more organic ways
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Ngl, I want to play with pre-revolution stuff and post-revolution stuff alike.
God Bird
I'd be down to play that kind of thing with you!
God Bird
I think that the pre-revolution stuff would be fun because I'm sure there's a lot of families who adopted their androids the same way they adopt roombas, treating them like pets, and the post-revolution stuff would be fun because how would all that legal stuff even work?
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
And I mean... Androids who were treated like Markus was pre-revolution and androids who were treated like Kara was? HUGE amount of difference. I'd say that some of them were never given up.
God Bird
And I imagine they'd have very different feelings about revolution
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Oh God yes, entirely. And the ones who aren't 'awake' just.... going along because it's an order.
God Bird
Androids who were treated like Markus, who are caretakers of the elderly or disabled and genuinely care for their charges? I can't see them leaping so hard onto the 'screw the humans' bandwagon
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Exactly. It's all about context, imo.
God Bird
Or even androids like Daniel who were child caretakers and treated like family (minus the replacement thing) would probably have a lot of conflicting feelings about it
God Bird
Like, yeah, it's all very well and good that people want them to be able to go outside without getting beaten up by protestors... but also, they don't want to leave their humans?
God Bird
They're fond of their humans and might not like how anti-human the revolution can be depending on Markus or North
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
This is kinda what I meant before about DBH being like.... Chobits taken to an extreme. Hell, I could make arguments with them taking place in the same world almost.
God Bird
I don't think I know the Chobits story
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
But two special 'persocoms' are made who have the ability to bring sentience to all persocoms.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
One... 'dies', sort of, because of that emotion. The other is reset and found by the hapless protagonist, and they learn together about just what she can do and love happens. It's a good series, and I've left a lot out in the summary, but it's worth watching.
God Bird
I'll put it on my list c:
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Instead of having the DBH LED, the persocoms have 'ears', that are enclosures for their connection ports as all of this was written before wifi and bluetooth, etc., were anwhere near as big as they are now.
God Bird
It definitely sounds a lot like it could be in the DBH unierse
God Bird
*universe
God Bird
I think it'd be really interesting to also hear about all those android children and android spouses people got, because those were things too
God Bird
Once they gained minds of their own, would they be interested in sticking around in a role they didn't really agree to for the satisfaction of a human?
God Bird
Or just... leave?
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Yeah, DBH takes like... In my opinion? There are some pretty easy ways to say it takes place in the same universe. Like androids look like THIS in Japan, but look like THAT in America, etc.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
And the android children.... Idk, I wondered through the whole thing if Alice ever actually 'woke up'.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆

⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
There. Persocoms
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
It is pretty heavy on the Japanese lolita style, though. And by 'pretty heavy', I mean 'dropped a ten ton weight on the ruffles'.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
True!
God Bird
Ahhhhh that's where the metal cat ear thing came from
God Bird
I remember seeing that in a lot of places and wondering what it was about
God Bird
I can't help but feel there's a lot of existential horror in the existence of android children
God Bird
Because... they can't grow
God Bird
That's the point. They can't grow.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Yeah, it puts me in mind of Claudia from the Vampire Chronicles.
God Bird
So they're there, stuck, being children for the rest of eternity or until they stop replacing their parts
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Also David from AI. Which...... was a weird movie in and of itself...
God Bird
Yeah, that movie was messed up too
God Bird
I have a few PSLs going with different Connors, but if you pick up anything or anyone from DBH, I'd love to explore worldbuilding with you in PSLs
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
I have an OC in mind. Canon.... Idk. I'd have to think about it and look at a few chapters as replay.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
I need to play Nier. I've been wanting to but I don't own it. >.>
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
My brain also immediately crosses it over with Knight Rider and Assassin's Creed because lbr, there's some parkour shit in there as well as some Eagle Vision shit in there.
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
I do intend to play it, but don't worry about spoiling it because playing it will happen anyway
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
.......26. Good goddamn
⋆ᴛʜᴀᴛᴀʟɪꜱᴛᴀɪʀ⋆
Pffft. Yeah, that sounds familiar. Ngl, I probably am going to try to be completionist in DBH.
