you know every time i see people talking about this game i'm tempted to give it another shot and then i remember how deeply the politics in the first chapter i played infuriated me, especially with, "nooo the infected just want freedom of movement" during you know an actual pandemic where real people were dying because they wanted freedom of movement and

i can't hold the infected thing against the devs

since you know they obviously couldn't predict a global pandemic

but at the same time it's just like

you know what I never considered that

It is a plot that has aged....poorly

you know as fun as this might be this is not the story i want to play in this year

for a Chinese gacha game that is slightly less problematic, have you considered Genshin Impact?

I've been tooling around on it the last little while, it's not bad.

also the whole thing with "reunion started as well intentioned peaceful protestors but then they got Violent and Bad so we have to kill them all now" which when the streams are crossed with the infected just makes me want to bang my head against the wall

honestly the tone of Arknights is fucking wild

tried it not my cup of tea

it makes NO sense

like i keep on hearing about how cool the individual storylines are and how amazing the Themes and Writing is but like

i just cannot engage with this game after 2020 because thinking about its politics from what i've seen is driving me crazy

it's simultaneously like "Oripathy victims are legitimately discriminated against and have a variety of valid reasons to be angry" and also "Kill hundreds of Oripathy victims to get experience tokens"

it's like how i couldn't get into gopri because i couldn't stop fixating on how much the aesthetics of the show drive me personally nuts except it's an actual fresh wound and not just me being a parody of an online leftist

like i'm not going to begrudge anyone for playing it but god i just Can't imagine getting into it again unless it somehow does a complete 180 on its themes in the very next chapter i play
