While gruff guys adopting lost children in fiction is on the mind, one dynamic that I liked a lot in The Mandalorian was how no one really LIKES Din that much but they all love the child

Din, to someone he knows: "I need your help"
Someone he knows: "Fuck off."

Din: "You don't understand. The kid has a cold."

Them: /already strapping on tactical gear and blasters so they can go to space CVS and get some child nyquil

No one wants to help Din

Everyone wants to help Grogu

I just think about this a lot

"Grogu, I would die for you"
"What about Din?"
"What ABOUT Din"

Din's fine

He can take care of himself he has cool armor
