Reigo’s mom ,

uh Reigo’s mom died when she was a baby so needless to say she did not really know her at all

that said her mom still had a pretty significant presence in her life for the next few years

basically Reigo’s parents kind of eloped bc mom had Reigo’s older brother Ras out of wedlock with a rando, so her dad’s family didn’t approve of them and her own family had already cut her off

and then she got Really Really Bad post-partum depression

and was on and off convinced she had cheated on Reigo’s dad and Reigo was also an illegitimate child. eventually Reigo’s dad caught her trying to kill Reigo and in the resulting scuffle her mom ended up dying by mistake instead

which Reigo’s dad also took very poorly. no one in this family has very sturdy brains

anyway Reigo’s dad became heavily abusive until Ras killed him and they went to an orphanage. Reigo didn’t entirely get what he was talking about because she was like 3 and also getting hit in the head a lot, but it stuck with her that the reason was because she looked like her mom

(bc her mom’s poor grasp on what had happened also rubbed off on her dad so he ALSO felt like he couldn’t be sure if Reigo was his kid or not)

so she had a complex about. looking like her mom, and being like her mom,

no one in this family has very sturdy brains.
