anyway I've never been a whole lot into ships so i really enjoyed this essay for putting into words the sense of dissatisfaction i've had for the last thirteen years

it's just something you can't look at and say 'they didn't know what they were doing', and that's just...mean. I get the idea of teasing a will they won't they, or options between ships, etc but
don't................do that, don't do something like that

they're doing it to the last moments. when zuko dives in front of the lightning bolt for katara, the cinematic language is absolutely coding it in a more romantic light

and like i know the comics reveal that zuko and mai don't last but wow i can't believe the show ended with them together, like why did anyone thing that was a remotely good fit for Zuko's arc
