1) Thing I learned today. If you want a Why Gif... don't google "Fucking Why gif" Because you will NOT get gifs like the one I just posted. Let's just say it's a good thing I'm on a personal computer working from home...

2) Why is it so hard for people to actually log into meetings at the appropriate time and stay on them, and do whta they're supposed to...

Department meeting today at 12:30pm. (I'm cranky because I still haven't eaten...)
Department head says to me, and the IT support. "Please be on by 12pm so we can load the slides and test them. IT Guy, you will be manning the slides because Liz has to take the minutes."

12pm rolls around. I start the meeting.

12:05 rolls around, IT guy finally logs in.

12:08 - Department head logs in. Slides aren't up.
"IT Guy, can you load the slides so I can make sure I sent you the right deck?"
crickets
"IT Guy? Liz do you know where he went?"

Me: No, I saw him log on but he never said anything to me, so I don't know where he is.
Me via chat box: Hey can you start the slides? She wants to check them. (timestamped 12:09)

No words

no comments

No slides started.

Me at 12:12pm: *sends email to IT Guy and his supervisor - Subject line "URGENT NOW - Faculty Meeting"

Supervisor immedieately signs into the webex

still takes another ten minutes before he's actually respondnig

slides weren't ready to go

he fumbled around for another five - including showing his desktop to the department head (anime girl with a sword) on accident and Department head getting freaked out and uncomfortable.

(to be fair, the picture was work appropriate in all aspects that an anime picture could be, it was one of those silhouettes so there's no real features, and they just use color to highlight the lines of the sword and hair)

to say she was not happy was an understatement...

I'm going to find food and watch an episode of Portals to Hell, because if I live there, why not watch it
