Monster Hunter Rise is a good game, but takes after the old games in some bad ways.

Unfortunately, you can really feel that they wanted to push this game out before the end of the fiscal year

It is not as bad as Pokemon Sword and Shield selling you an underbaked game and selling you the rest of the time it should've been in the oven, at least. There are free updates planned for the game and the MonHun devs have proven themselves trustworthy over the years

But the story ends abruptly and more is supposed to be added through updates

The hitbox bullshit could either be from sending it out too early or borrowing too much from the older games and I can't tell you which is more likely

The way they're approaching it here is better than what they did for most of the previous games, where instead of doing it as add-ons/expansions, they'd rerelease the entire games with the new content packed in, with the most-recent offender in this regard being Generations.

Meaning if you bought into the base version of any given game, you'd have to buy it again for the new stuff.

Which is just what Capcom's been doing for years, so it's not unexpected

Iceborne technically counts as the same, except instead of a brand new game it was straight up an expansion

(Generations Ultimate was a huge fuckup, they took too long to release it)
