https://images.plurk.com/2cT3sUxcoa5jKyam9QMsxC.jpg yay the book has arrived woohoo~
Shimarin
time to make a comparison which is better: the western version or the eastern adaptation~ (haha)

Shimarin : I'm inclined to say the manga adaptation is better because moe is included while the book has no pictures of the ladies (LOL)

to be serious, the manga adaptation is practically 1:1, nothing's changed from the stories and nothing was taken out that I could see.
The book just has more of the introspection of the author, and also some stories that were too spicy for the censors of the Soviet Union that she included in this new edition of the book.

it's definitely a great manga series. The thing that really endears me to it is that it's not just the stories of the veterans, but also the story of the author's journey to get all these ladies to open up and tell her their stories that they've hidden for 40 years
