me reading from the sidelines: so Eren basically did a Lelouch... acted horrible so he could be killed and give validity to the people that killed him.... like, that's dumb as fuck in the context of AoT, but okay I guess, at least it means he wasn't actually genociding,
i was looking up aot stuff on twitter and like all the fans on there were actually praising the ending, and also UNIRONICALLY comparing Eren to Lelouch, and
code geass r2 did not take itself seriously at all and so when lelouch's entire plan was "actually i'll be such a dramatic bitch that my death will be the catalyst for world peace" it's not even top ten dumbest shit in the anime
meanwhile aot tries to take itself Very Seriously and tell a Serious Story with Serious Consequences and so tonally it's very strange. like the lelouch gambit relies on a certain suspension of disbelief that code geass very much more readily feeds.
the entire production was a behind the scenes nightmare, we know WAY too much about what went into that, but we knew it was fucking insane and never shied away from being so
also just like........ i had made a plurk not too long ago (before this ending) where I learned that at least they were portraying Eren's genocide plan as bad, but this like
thanks for the genocideholy shit
