or why they celebrate Mardi Gras or Saint Patrick's Day ...
Cami Mahovlich
Let’s face it, most people celebrate holidays for the fun not the actual meaning behind them.

So on the one hand, there are people who get pissy if someone says "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." And then on the other hand, there are people who get pissy if Christmas is "hijacked" by secular culture. We all realize these are conflicting complaints, right?
Lette
Either you want secular people to embrace Christmas or you don't. You can't have it both ways.

(I realize Anubis isn't necessarily making this statement. He has long posted random stuff he doesn't necessarily support. My comment is about the meme itself.)

i don't celebrate christmas :> i celebrate giftmas, a holiday my parents (also atheist) made up so that we could stop feeling excluded by our christian school peers.. i still celebrate it with my son to this day. giftmas is all about giving presents, getting presents, and enjoying presents.
